The AL MVP

·1 min

Yes, Singapore Sox Fan has not been updating much - largely because work commitments will be flinging me into London and Montreal for the next three weeks, and since it’s the offseason I will take the occasion to take a slight break… meanwhile my main blog will keep chugging along.

But just a quick word in to say: I don’t really mind that A-Rod won the AL MVP - and that he’s won it at 2 positions (and not easy ones to play at that) is actually pretty impressive. His comments though are so filled with self-import:

“We can win three World Series; with me, it’s never going to be over. I think my benchmark is so high that no matter what I do, it’s never going to be enough, and I understand that”

Big Papi’s rings: 1… A-Rod’s: 0. I also thought this was reflective of A-Rod’s “I have to carry the team approach”…

“My one regret is I thought I could have walked 10 or 12 times and really just passed the baton and been a little bit more patient,” he said. “Probably at the end, I got a little overanxious.”

That lovely GIDP near the end of the Yankees’ 2005 season… brilliant.
