Sox 5, Yankees 4: It had to be this way

·1 min

David Ortiz will never have to walk a day the rest of his life. A crew of Sox fans will just carry him around like the King he is. Oh, and the word for today is REDEMPTION:

  • Ortiz, for that blown steal in the 12th inning. Not Ortiz’s fault: Ortiz redeemed the umpire who’d have been lynched by Boston fans.
  • Timlin, for yesterday. Back to regular postseason excellence Tim?
  • Arroyo, for Game 3. Nice set of Saturnalia.
  • And, of course, Tim Wakefield, for Game 7.

Both bullpens are depleted. Freakin’ awesome job by ours today. 8 shutout innings today. 14 shutout innings in a row. It’s Timlin in the 7th, or Foulke in the 8th, or whoever Tito’s throwing out there: suddenly magic. Can Schilling outlast Lieber tomorrow? One more win. One at a time. Is there anything sweeter than seeing M Rivera (B, 3) on a box score? Yes there is: “T Wakefield (W, 1-0)”.
