Okay, good win today. Except for one glaring question: Why Wasn’t Pedro Taken Out?? Don’t give me any of the “he said he was fine” stuff. It was raining, he was above 100 pitches, and he clearly wasn’t dealing at that point. I’m not sure Francona knows the deal here - look, if you take Pedro out in the 7th, and Terry Adams blows it (as he did today, but 1/3 of an inning later than he should have), people will understand. They really will.
Pedro tied Lefty Grove for starts for the Sox at 189. Pedro and Lefty, now that’s a pair of #1s. Best all-time Sox rotation? Pedro, Clemens, Smokey Joe Wood, Lefty, Cy. Best all-time rest-of-MLB rotation? Hmm. I’d go for Koufax, Walter Johnson, Mathewson, Gibson, Spahn, but you can convince me that Randy Johnson or Steve Carlton are on the list. Either way, I say the Sox could take ’em.
