Actually, there seems to be a distinction between the Yankees that Sox fans hate (Derek Jeter, A-Rod) and those that they grudgingly accept (Rivera, perhaps Joe Torre). Like, does any Sox fan seriously dislike Paul Quantrill? I wonder what the distinction is. Part of it is the celeb status of Jeter et al and there’s also the fact that the most hated players seem tremendously over-praised (listening to that Fox intro on Jeter last night you’d think that he had invented the cure for cancer). Giambi I think falls closer to the “grudgingly accept” side.
