Sigh. Kevin Millar hits 3 home runs in a bid for redemption, tie game, top of the 9th, and nothing doing. Why couldn’t Tek hit a sac fly? Why do the Sox mock us by putting runners in scoring position and not bringing them home? Why must life be so hard? Why must I fail at every attempt at masonry?
Foulke v. Rivera, Rivera wins this round. It’s really hard, somehow, to hate Rivera. He’s just really good at what he does. That cut fastball - everyone in MLB knows it’s coming, and somehow they can’t hit it. No BS. No “intangibles” or clutch pitching. No showboating. He comes in, everyone goes home. It’s frustrating, but it’s not hateful. As for Foulke… why does Foulke always seem to have his best stuff after blowing a save or giving up the lead? Couldn’t he, like, bring it on earlier?
